Training Lori

When I first became a trainer at Fitness First. I was approached by one of my fellow Personal Trainers and asked if I could help her achieve some of her health and fitness goals. I was a little taken back that an experienced trainer would seek advice and tuition from me. But since then, we have become a great team.

We started by analysing Lori's exercise form and technique. Then our goal was to put on some lean quality muscle. And currently we are at the fat stripping phase. Every person is different and it is of paramount importance to realise that what works for one person does not necessarily work for another.

Her committment and willingness to learn is second to none. She has taken everything I have taught her on-board. And I can honestly say her exercise technique is near perfect now.

One of the principles I believe in is that we need to make every minute in the gym count. No wasted effort with incorrect technique. Every one rep of an exercise we do must equal one rep. I see the majority of people doing exercises using poor form. So if they do 10 reps of an exercise for example it only equals 2 quality reps. Over a workout, over a week and more importanlty over a year this makes for over 80% wasted effort..That's massive!!

This also applies to Cardio...Every step we take on the treadmill must count no wasted hours trying to burn calories if our metabolism isn't working for us. This means our nutrition must be on track.

   

It has been a privilege for me to be able to work with Lori. I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to pass on some of my knowledge and experience. At the end of the day it is a teams event and we work and learn from each other.
